Laurence (Laurie) Douglas Kissack (1914 - 21 Sep 1941)

Laurie died on 21 Sept 1941 when a Vickers Wellington II bomber (W5452 BU-U) crashed.

Laurie was a pilot in the RAFVR. His fateful mission was an operation to Berlin. Take off was at 19:24hrs from Stradishall.After a successful mission there was a heavy fog at Stradishall, the plane was low on fuel and diverted to RAF Manston. The pilot, Pilot Officer Abrey, tried to do an emergency landing at RAF Manston but the aircraft crashed into trees. Five crew members were killed and one (Pilot Officer White) was injured.
